Private Mountain Guiding and Instruction

Private guiding in ScotlandPrivate mountain guiding is an alternative to attending a mountaineering course of fixed duration with other people, sometimes of mixed ability, the option of private mountain and instruction guiding is available. The advantage being that individuals or small groups can aim at their specific requirements through a customer led package of activities. This often suits the person who has limited time available and cannot fit into the structured course dates. Anything from a few hours to a multi-day programme can be arranged, mid-week or weekends.

Groups are usually small, from one to six people depending on the activity. Activities can range from mountaineering to climbing, in Britain (winter or summer) or the Alps.

Breithorn traverseCertain climbs in the Alps may carry a difficulty surcharge. Approaches to huts or climbs on the day previous to an ascent are charged at the full rate. In the event of really poor weather, when it would be foolhardy to leave the valley an alternative date or refund of guiding fees is offered in Britain. If a route in Britain cannot be completed due to poor weather or mountain conditions, having ascended to the base of the climb a 25% refund will be made on the daily rate. In the Alps a 50% refund is made on a daily basis during poor weather when it is not possible to leave the valley and agreed alternatives are not available.
