Winter Mountaineering Intro Weekends

Ben Nevis in winterThese very popular two day courses are aimed at people who would like to progress into winter mountaineering, and need to learn new skills or brush up on existing knowledge in the company of an expert. They are of an introductory nature and would be ideal for summer hillwalkers who are planning to extend their yearly activities into the winter months or simple alpine ascents.

Programme content will include advice on choosing and using the correct equipment, clothing, boots, ice axe and crampons. Practical sessions on navigation and avalanche evaluation will be included. The depth to which these topics are covered will depend on snow/ice and weather conditions during the course. Evening instructional videos offered. Courses meet on the Saturday morning.
